The short version
- You can now join a lobby with a code instead of a Steam invite.
- CatNap and Boogie Bot both got balance changes, and CatNap work isn't done.
- Public lobbies, lore notes and timer adjustments are planned for the week of 10/26.
Escape From Playtime just got a patch that makes it a lot easier to get into a game with other people. The update, called "HERE’S THE CODE," launched Friday 10/23 on Steam and adds lobby codes.
Hosts can now share a code with friends, new or old, and they can jump straight in without going through a Steam invite. If you don't have a crew, there's also a new button in the game's menu that takes you directly to the Looking-For-Group channel in the official Mob Discord.
The monsters got some attention too. CatNap has been balanced a bit, and the developer says it will keep working on him, admitting "it’s a hard one to wrangle…"
Boogie Bot is also getting tuned. "Ya, we know he’s tough, let us know what you think of this update," the patch notes say. The update also rolls in additional bug fixes, balance changes and quality of life improvements, though the notes don't itemize them.
The developer thanked players for "rapidly sharing your feedback," and that feedback is clearly steering what comes next.
Public lobbies are set to arrive with an update called "LOBBY DOORS OPEN," launching the week of 10/26. The developer says players were clear that finding a group inside the game needed to be easier. Since public lobbies will pair strangers together, kick and report player features are part of the plan.
That update also scatters lore notes around the factory for you to find, and includes timer adjustments after players said the current time to complete a shift felt off. The developer hasn't spelled out how the timers will change yet.
What we don’t know yet
- The exact day public lobbies go live during the week of 10/26 hasn't been announced.
- How shift timers will be adjusted hasn't been detailed.
- The specific CatNap and Boogie Bot balance changes weren't listed.
