The short version

  1. Legacy of Atlantis has a new '30th Anniversary' teaser trailer.
  2. It shows classic moments from 1996's Tomb Raider in remake footage.
  3. Aspyr marked the birthday with a trailer covering the games it helped revive.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis has a new teaser trailer, and it's timed to the series' 30th anniversary this week.

Publisher Amazon Games and developers Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog released the '30th Anniversary' teaser. It revisits classic moments from 1996's Tomb Raider in remake footage, which Polygon called "dazzling."

If you grew up with the original, that's the part to pay attention to. Seeing those 1996 moments rebuilt is exactly what a remake like this needs to nail, and the trailer leans right into it.

Polygon's headline points to a 2027 return for the game. No other details about launch were shared alongside the trailer.

Legacy of Atlantis wasn't the only Tomb Raider trailer for the birthday. Aspyr released its own celebration trailer, which Nintendo Life says showcases all the games the team has helped revive in recent years, collections included.

Aspyr's video signs off with a toast: "Here's to our lady of tombs".

Nintendo Life also notes that earlier this week, the third entry in Lara Croft's 'Survivor' trilogy was shadow-dropped on Switch 2, lining up with the anniversary.

What we don’t know yet

  • No exact release date for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis was given with the trailer.
  • Platforms for Legacy of Atlantis weren't stated alongside the teaser.
