The short version

  1. A playable version of a classic Street Fighter entry is now on YouTube.
  2. Which game it is and how it plays haven't been detailed.
  3. The series has hit dozens of platforms in its nearly 40 years.

You can now play Street Fighter on YouTube. A playable version of a classic entry in Capcom's series is available on the video platform, according to a post on Steam News.

Yes, the site you usually use to watch combo videos can now run the game itself.

The report doesn't name which classic Street Fighter game made the jump, and it doesn't explain how the YouTube version works, what controls it supports, or whether you'll need an account to jump in.

It's the latest stop for a series that's been ported almost everywhere. Street Fighter has been playable on dozens of different platforms in the nearly 40 years since it debuted.

The Steam News post acknowledges that fighting game purists might believe the series plays best in an arcade or on a fight stick, but argues that spreading the games across so many consoles is part of how Capcom's franchise reached the notoriety it has in 2026.

A browser-based classic on a site everyone already has open is about as low a barrier to entry as it gets. Whether it's good for anything beyond a few quick rounds depends on details that haven't been shared yet.

Capcom hasn't detailed the YouTube version, so the specific game, controls and any multiplayer support are still open questions.

What we don’t know yet

  • Which classic Street Fighter entry is playable on YouTube hasn't been specified.
  • How controls, including fight sticks or controllers, work on the YouTube version hasn't been detailed.
  • It isn't known whether the YouTube version is free or supports multiplayer.
