The short version

  1. Darkest Dungeon II's Switch 2 Edition is out now.
  2. It costs $42.98 / £36.24 on its own.
  3. Switch owners can upgrade for $2.99 / £2.24.

Darkest Dungeon II has a Switch 2 Edition, and it's available now, Nintendo Life reports.

The roguelike role-playing game joins a growing pile of Switch titles that have picked up Switch 2 Editions recently.

Buying it fresh will run you $42.98 / £36.24.

If you already own Darkest Dungeon II on the original Switch, there's a much cheaper route. An upgrade pack costs $2.99 / £2.24, or your regional equivalent, and gets you the Switch 2 Edition without buying the game twice.

That's a pretty easy call for anyone who's already been dragging a doomed party down the road on Switch and has since moved to the new hardware.

There's also a sale running on the regular Switch version in select regions. That could make the base game plus the upgrade a cheaper combo than the Switch 2 Edition at full price, depending on where you live.

Details on what the Switch 2 Edition actually changes over the original Switch release haven't been shared in Nintendo Life's report, so performance or visual improvements are still unclear.

What we don’t know yet

  • What improvements the Switch 2 Edition brings over the Switch version hasn't been detailed.
  • Which regions have the Switch version on sale, and for how long, isn't specified.
