The short version

  1. Only one player on the planet can be in Jono at any given moment.
  2. When your turn arrives, you get exactly one minute to play.
  3. It's free on Steam, from solo developer Part Time Monkey.

Jono is a free Steam game with a strange rule: only one person in the world can play it at a time.

That means waiting. When your turn finally comes up, you get exactly one minute to guide a tiny pixel-art hero past spikes, crushers, ice and more.

One minute. That's the whole shift. Whatever you manage in those sixty seconds is your run, and then someone else gets their turn.

The game is the work of Tuomas Erikoinen, the artist behind the original Angry Birds. He now makes games on his own under the name Part Time Monkey.

It's a fun idea for a platformer. Hazards like crushers and ice are standard genre fare, but a single global slot turns every turn into something you can't just retry at will, which makes those obstacles feel a lot meaner.

The big practical question is the queue. How long you'll wait for your minute, and what happens if you miss your turn, hasn't been spelled out yet.

What we don’t know yet

  • How long players typically wait in line for their turn hasn't been shared.
  • It's unclear what happens if a player isn't present when their turn comes up.
  • Whether progress carries over between players or turns hasn't been explained.
