The short version

  1. Ubisoft calls this its "final major content update" for Black Flag Resynced.
  2. New Game+ and a brutal Nightmare difficulty lead the patch.
  3. Hidden community chests, new takedowns, cosmetics and bug fixes round it out.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is getting its last big update. Ubisoft says the patch, which launches October 27, is the game's "final major content update."

New Game+ was revealed the week before, and it works the way you'd expect. You restart the main quest from the beginning with everything you picked up last time, and world difficulty climbs with each new playthrough.

The bigger draw for anyone chasing pain is Nightmare difficulty, which Ubisoft pitches as the game's hardest challenge with the "deadliest" enemies.

It earns that. Enemies deal 1.8x their normal damage, parries get trickier to land, and the one-shot kill safety is switched off. That means a single stray bullet can drop you even at full health.

Stealth also tilts toward your enemies on Nightmare, every ship hits your own harder, and sharks and jellyfish get more dangerous too. Even the wildlife wants you dead.

There are also new community chests hidden around the world. Ubisoft says they'll be "more challenging" to find, but it hasn't shared much else about them.

New takedowns, new cosmetics and a batch of bug fixes fill out the rest of the patch notes. PC Gamer's writer called it "Not bad at all for the revamped pirate game's final sendoff."

Ubisoft's wording leaves room for smaller patches later, but it hasn't said whether any are planned.

What we don’t know yet

  • Ubisoft hasn't said whether smaller updates or fixes will follow this one.
  • Full details on what the community chests contain haven't been shared.
  • Which platforms get the update at the same time wasn't specified.
