The short version

  1. Death Stranding Isolations, the anime series, has its first teaser.
  2. It's a Kojima Productions and Disney+ project set after Sam connects North America.
  3. The show is scheduled for 2027.

Death Stranding Isolations finally has a trailer. Kojima Productions and Disney+ released a short teaser for the anime TV series, along with the first real details about what it's about.

The show was revealed almost a year ago, so this is the first proper look after a long quiet stretch. It's an original animated series set in the same universe as the two Death Stranding games on PS5 and PS4.

The tagline is grim and very on brand: "My mom became a crater". If you've played the games, you know exactly how literal that could be.

Timeline-wise, the series picks up just after Sam Bridges connects North America to the Chiral Network. Those "renewed connections" end up bringing trouble, according to the synopsis Push Square reported.

So rather than retelling Sam's trek, the show looks at what happens once the network is up and running. That's a smart spot to set a spinoff, since the games spend so much time on the cost of connecting everyone and less on what comes after.

Polygon was impressed by the footage, saying the anime looks impressive in its first official trailer.

Isolations is scheduled to release in 2027. Neither Kojima Productions nor Disney+ has shared a specific date yet.

What we don’t know yet

  • An exact 2027 release date hasn't been announced.
  • The cast, studio and episode count weren't detailed in the reports.
  • It's not clear whether Sam Bridges appears in the series.
