Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold slips four weeks to February 23, 2027

Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold has been delayed. The MMORPG's sixth expansion now launches February 23, 2027, with early access starting February 19, 2027.

It had been slated for January 2027, a window Square Enix announced when it first revealed the expansion at the North American Fan Fest in April. The new date was announced at Fan Fest in Japan, and it was described as only a four-week delay.

So you'll be waiting a little longer, but not much.

Pre-orders open November 4, 2026, and will come with several bonus items. Those bonuses hadn't been fully detailed when the date news broke.

The delay landed alongside Evercold's full trailer, which doubles as the expansion's opening cinematic. It kicked off the keynote, where director and producer Naoki Yoshida went over new features, where the story is headed, and fundamental gameplay changes coming as the game moves to version 8.0 with Evercold's launch.

Square Enix also showed off the second new job. Zephyr is a ranged DPS that uses a crossbow as its main weapon and commands an avian companion that provides support. A crossbow and a bird buddy is a pretty great pitch for a job.

Zephyr joins Bastion, a new tank job, on the expansion's roster. Evercold also brings a new world and main story, plus a Neon Genesis Evangelion crossover raid series and a Final Fantasy VII crossover raid series.

Evercold arrives with the game now available on Switch 2.
