Footage of an apparent Persona 1 remake has leaked online

What looks like gameplay footage from an unannounced Persona 1 remake has leaked online, as IGN reported. The video runs a little under two minutes and appears to show a modernized version of Sega and Atlus' original Persona.

It was first posted on Reddit before spreading to other social media platforms. The original post ties the footage to a Persona: Be Your True Mind remake.

Gematsu is treating it as a rumor too, describing the reel as what appears to be work-in-progress footage of a Revelations: Persona remake.

Nothing here is official. The people behind the series have talked about remaking early entries before, but they've never confirmed that work on one was actually underway.

IGN's report urges caution given how easy AI-generated fakes are to make these days, while noting that fans generally seem to believe the footage is real. One reason, per IGN: the music, effects and art line up with Atlus' recent work, and the clip is longer and more detailed than fake leaks usually are.

According to IGN, the character animations are the biggest tell for a lot of people who think it's authentic.

If it is real, that's a big deal for anyone who's only known the first game by reputation. Until Atlus says something, treat it as unconfirmed.
