FromSoftware delays Switch 2 exclusive The Duskbloods to 2027
The eight-player PvPvE game from the Elden Ring studio needs more time for rules and balance tuning after August's network test, and there's no new date yet.

The short version
- The Duskbloods won't make its 2026 window and is now due sometime in 2027.
- FromSoftware wants time for final tweaks to game rules and balancing.
- Feedback from the August network test shaped the call.
The Duskbloods is slipping to 2027. FromSoftware announced that its Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive won't launch in 2026 as planned, and it didn't name a specific new date.
If you've been eyeing the shrinking calendar, this one probably isn't a shock. The game was a no-show at the September Nintendo Direct, which GameSpot notes had some fans worried about where development stood.
FromSoftware's reasoning is pretty specific. The studio says it's taking time for "final adjustments to game rules and balancing," which makes sense for a gothic, eight-player PvPvE action game where you're fighting other players as well as the monsters.
According to a translation of the studio's statement, the extra time is meant to realize the game's concept, "enjoyable not only through direct combat but also through various maneuvers and diverse strategies," at a higher level. That work builds on player feedback from the network test held in August.
The studio also said it wants to "further enhance" core pieces like combat, strategic depth and player expression.
"We apologize to players who have been kindly awaiting the release of this title and thank you for your patience and support," FromSoftware said.
Interest doesn't seem to be the problem. GameSpot reports a FromSoftware employee recently revealed that interest in The Duskbloods' playtest surpassed that of Elden Ring Nightreign's.
The game is directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. Eurogamer describes it as Bloodborne meets Sekiro meets Dark Souls, with jetpacks and dinos thrown in, and honestly that's a pitch worth waiting for. For now, the only window is 2027.
What we don’t know yet
- FromSoftware hasn't given a specific 2027 release date.
- The studio hasn't detailed which rules or balance changes it plans to make.
