Paralives' first major update slips to next year with new skills and jobs

Paralives' first major update is coming next year, not this one. The team behind the life sim has outlined what it's working on, and the list hits pretty much every main part of the game.

Alex Massé and team describe the priority as "buffing up the basics." That means new skills, new jobs and new relationship features, plus improvements to both live mode and build mode.

If you've been playing since the early access launch in May, that focus makes sense. Rock Paper Shotgun called the plans "very catered to improving the core experience," and that's the right call for a game this systems-driven: deeper careers and relationships are what keep a life sim interesting after the first few households.

The delay stings a bit, but it's not like the game has been quiet. Rock Paper Shotgun points out the team has been shipping fairly regular updates since launch, with tweaks both big and small, and described that track record as confidence-inspiring for an early access game.

PCGamesN, which has been openly smitten with the game, framed Paralives as a rival to The Sims in its coverage of the roadmap.

What the team hasn't shared yet is a release window more specific than next year, or a full breakdown of which skills and jobs are on the way. Until then, the smaller updates should keep coming.
