Sony's Prism Collection brings see-through DualSense controllers to PS5

Sony is bringing transparent hardware back. The new Prism Collection puts see-through shells on DualSense wireless controllers and PS5 console covers, so you can peek at the guts of your gear.

It comes in three glossy colors: Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray.

Preorders open on November 10 through the PlayStation Direct store, with the collection rolling out on February 4, 2027. That's a bit of a wait, but at least you've got a couple of weeks to pick a favorite before preorders go live.

Sony says the design came from its PS5 team wanting to give the console and accessories a transparent look while showing off the hardware under the surface. The company describes Flare Orange as having a "bold and vibrant aesthetic," calls Emerald Green "elegant," and says a PS5 will look "refined" with a Graphite Gray cover.

"We know how much our fans have been looking forward to the return of transparent controllers," said Leo Cardoso and Satoshi Aoyagi from Sony's Color, Material, and Finish design team in a press statement. "We wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend of the late '90s in a fresh, modern way that complements the PS5's industrial design."

On the controller, the high-gloss clear finish runs across the back, and the designers say a metallic finish on the middle cover ties the contrasting surfaces together.

If you grew up staring into a clear controller to watch the circuit boards, this one's hard not to love. Push Square's writer said the Prism collection might be their favorite of Sony's PS5 colorways so far.

Sony hasn't shared pricing for the controllers or covers yet.
