The short version

  1. Codename Hexe is making steady progress, Ubisoft says, with work still ahead.
  2. No Assassin's Creed remakes are actively in development after Black Flag Resynced.
  3. Multiplayer project Codename Invictus is still alive and changing direction.

Ubisoft has no more Assassin's Creed remakes in development right now. The publisher said so in a new franchise update that also checked in on Codename Hexe, the next major mainline game.

That update follows Black Flag Resynced, which launched earlier this year. Push Square notes the remake had sold three million copies as of mid-July 2026, and that there had been rumors Ubisoft was weighing more remakes based on its sales.

For now, though, nothing else is "actively in development," according to Ubisoft. The publisher didn't rule out remakes down the line.

Instead, Ubisoft says its focus is on its two main in-development projects, the live action Netflix series, and "projects you haven’t heard about yet."

On Hexe, Ubisoft kept expectations measured. The game is "making steady progress…though there is still work ahead of us," the publisher wrote, adding: "We know the wait has been long, and we’re grateful for your patience and continued enthusiasm for the project."

The next franchise update is coming in 2027. Destructoid reads that as a sign Hexe likely won't show up until late next year at the earliest, with 2028 or later looking more likely in its view.

Codename Invictus, the multiplayer-focused project, is still being worked on too. Ubisoft says it's "now evolving in an exciting direction that better reflects" the series' core pillars while keeping its multiplayer ambitions.

Ubisoft also cautioned that "information you come across online may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate" about Invictus, and said it will keep testing new iterations before sharing more.

What we don’t know yet

  • Ubisoft hasn't given a release window or platforms for Codename Hexe.
  • It's unclear how Codename Invictus has changed in its new direction.
  • Ubisoft hasn't said when the 2027 franchise update will arrive.
