GTA 6 reportedly needs 210GB on PS5, so start clearing space

Grand Theft Auto 6 is going to eat a big chunk of your PS5's SSD. According to X account PlayStation Game Size, the $80 standard edition takes up 210GB.

That figure hasn't come from Rockstar, so treat it as a report for now. Push Square describes the account as one that "pretty reliably surfaces the install sizes for games on PS5," which makes the number worth taking seriously.

If it holds, GTA 6 lands among the largest games ever. GameSpot says it's double the file size of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar's last game.

The size of the $100 Ultimate Edition hasn't been shared, and neither has the Xbox Series X|S version. GameSpot expects the Xbox number to be around the same, but that's its guess, not a confirmed figure.

The good news is you won't be downloading all of it on launch night. Preloading starts November 12, a week before GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

So if your drive is already packed, now's a decent time to figure out what you're willing to delete. PC Gamer pointed out the size is a lot to ask for "in the midst of the memory crisis."

GameSpot notes GTA 6 is a strictly single-player game, and its map is three times bigger than Red Dead Redemption 2's. A PC version hasn't been dated.
