The short version

  1. New Game Plus is finally here, carrying over your abilities and unlocks.
  2. A new Nightmare difficulty joins the harder settings.
  3. Ubisoft says this is the last content update; future patches are quality-of-life only.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced just got its final major content update, and it brings New Game Plus with it. Title update 1.0.8 is live now.

New Game Plus lets you replay the game with all of your abilities and unlocks carried over. If you finished Edward's story and wanted an excuse to go back out on the water fully kitted, this is it.

There's also a new Nightmare difficulty, part of a set of harder difficulty settings added in this update. Ubisoft has published full patch notes covering the rest, which include new content, features and bug fixes.

Rock Paper Shotgun also points to a throwback to the original game in the update.

On PS5, the download weighs in at 4.5GB.

This is the end of the road for new content. Ubisoft has confirmed these are the final content additions the remake will get after launch, though more quality-of-life patches are still planned.

Black Flag Resynced, the return of the 2013 pirate adventure, launched on July 9th, according to Pure Xbox, and the outlet notes it sits at an 83 on Metacritic.

What we don’t know yet

  • Ubisoft hasn't said how many quality-of-life patches are still planned or when they'll arrive.
  • Download sizes for platforms other than PS5 haven't been shared.
