CD Projekt Red job listing hints Cyberpunk 2 could have multiplayer

Cyberpunk 2 might not be a solo trip through Night City. A new CD Projekt Red job listing is looking for someone with multiplayer experience to work on the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.

According to Eurogamer, the posting asks for someone familiar with "multiplayer network architecture." That's a pretty specific skill to hire for if online play isn't on the table.

Eurogamer also points out that CD Projekt Red scrapped multiplayer for Cyberpunk 2077, so this could be the studio picking those online ambitions back up for the sequel.

Polygon's headline goes a step further, saying the listing hints at multiplayer quests. It's a fun idea: running a job with a friend instead of solo.

This isn't the first listing to point this way, either. Insider Gaming reports that previous job openings had already suggested multiplayer, and the new one backs them up.

Still, a job listing is a hint, not an announcement. Studios hire for features that get cut, and studios hire for features that end up small. CD Projekt Red hasn't said anything about multiplayer in Cyberpunk 2, and nobody knows yet whether it would be co-op, a separate mode, or something else.

Cyberpunk 2077 earned its praise as a single-player game, so if you loved going it alone, there's no sign that's going away. For now, the only evidence is what the studio is hiring for.
