The short version
- Cronos: Lazarus launches December 3, 2026 for $9.99.
- It's a prequel starring the Pathfinder on his road to becoming The Warden.
- PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S get it first, with Switch 2 following in Q1 2027.
Cronos: The New Dawn is getting a prequel. Bloober Team has confirmed that Cronos: Lazarus, a story expansion for its horror game, launches on December 3, 2026.
It'll cost $9.99, and it's coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on day one. The Switch 2 version follows later, in Q1 2027.
If you played the base game, you've already met the star of this one. Lazarus has you play as the Pathfinder, and the story follows his journey toward becoming The Warden.
He won't be making that trip in peace. Bloober Team's press release introduces a new threat: "Standing in the Pathfinder’s way is the Tracker, a relentless envoy of the Collective tasked with hunting him down before he can complete a revival mission the organization must never uncover."
That's a nice bit of setup. A secret revival mission the Collective must never uncover gives the prequel a mystery of its own, and a dedicated hunter should keep the pressure on throughout.
A new trailer for the DLC went out alongside the announcement.
Bloober Team hasn't said how long the expansion runs, and there's no word yet on an exact date for the Switch 2 release beyond that Q1 2027 window.
What we don’t know yet
- How long the Lazarus expansion takes to finish hasn't been shared.
- An exact Switch 2 release date within Q1 2027 hasn't been announced.
- Whether the DLC is included in any bundle or season pass hasn't been detailed.
