The short version

  1. Unite goes offline on March 23, 2027, on Switch and mobile.
  2. Aeos Gems sales and Unite Club memberships have already ended.
  3. A Library update keeps your stats and practice rounds around after the lights go out.

Pokémon Unite is ending service. The Pokémon Company and developer TiMi Studio Group say the free-to-play MOBA will go offline on Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC.

The shutdown covers "both the Nintendo Switch and mobile device version" of the game, according to the official notice.

If you were planning to top up, don't. Sales of Aeos Gems, the game's premium currency, have stopped, and monthly Unite Club membership payments have ended too.

"We offer our sincerest gratitude to the many Trainers who have played since service started for the Nintendo Switch version on July 21, 2021," The Pokémon Company and TiMi said in a statement. "We hope you continue to enjoy Pokemon Unite until the final day of service."

The game isn't leaving quietly. Its final competition, the Aeos Crown 2027, takes place in Tokyo two days before the shutdown, and Insider Gaming reports it will carry a record $1 million prize pool. The December 2026 tournament will still go ahead as planned, and a special farewell event is running in the meantime.

Online matches end with the service, but a new Library update lets you look back at your career progress and stats and play practice rounds after the servers close.

The closure follows Unite being dropped from the 2027 World Championships, a move Nintendo Life says sparked plenty of talk about the game winding down. GameSpot suggested the release of Pokémon Champions earlier this year may also have signaled the end.

What we don’t know yet

  • The Pokémon Company hasn't said what happens to unspent Aeos Gems.
  • The end date of the special farewell event isn't confirmed.
  • No reason for the shutdown has been given officially.
