Red Dead Redemption 2: Undead Damnation has been announced ahead of Halloween
Red Dead Redemption 2 never got its own Undead Nightmare, and Undead Damnation looks like it could finally fill that gap, though almost nothing about it has been shared yet.
The short version
- Undead Damnation has been announced for Red Dead Redemption 2.
- It's being pitched as the Undead Nightmare follow-up RDR2 never got.
- Who's making it, when it's out and what it costs are all unknown.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is getting zombies. Or at least it looks that way: Undead Damnation has been announced, just ahead of Halloween.
The announcement was covered in a post on Steam News, which framed Undead Damnation as the Undead Nightmare sequel Red Dead Redemption 2 has been missing.
If you've spent years wondering why Arthur Morgan's adventure never got its own horror spin, this is the news you've been waiting for. Players have long asked why RDR2 skipped its own version of Undead Nightmare, and this upcoming release is meant to change that.
The Steam News post is careful with its wording, though. It says Red Dead Redemption 2 "may finally be set to receive the perfect Undead Nightmare sequel," which is a hopeful framing.
That caution makes sense, because the details stop there. The post doesn't say who is behind Undead Damnation or what form it takes, whether that's paid DLC, a free update or something else.
There's also no release date, no price and no platform list. It doesn't describe any story, characters, enemies or modes either.
The Halloween timing is the only real clue. An announcement right before the spookiest week of the year would fit an undead add-on for a western, but nobody has said when it actually launches.
Until whoever is making it shares more, keep your dead-eye ready and your expectations loose. A trailer, a date and a clear answer on how you'll get it are the next things to look for.
What we don’t know yet
- Who is developing or publishing Undead Damnation hasn't been stated.
- No release date or price has been announced.
- It hasn't been said whether Undead Damnation is paid DLC, a free update or a separate release.
- Supported platforms haven't been confirmed.
