The short version

  1. The Borderlands series has sold more than 100 million copies across all games.
  2. Gearbox says more Borderlands 4 content is coming next year.
  3. The Hunt charity event for St. Jude starts November 6th, with donations matched up to last year's record.

The Borderlands series has sold more than 100 million copies. Gearbox announced the milestone in a message to players, writing that "the Borderlands franchise has officially crossed 100 million units sold!"

That number covers every game in the series, and it arrives just over a year after Borderlands 4 launched and sent Vault Hunters to Kairos.

According to Insider Gaming, hitting 100 million around this point is exactly what Randy Pitchford had predicted.

Gearbox also looked back at Borderlands 4's first year of post-launch support: two Story Packs, five Bounty Packs, two new Vault Hunters, and a handful of new features and activities.

If you're wondering whether that's the end of it, it isn't. Eurogamer reports the studio said it's "cooking hard on more Borderlands 4 content for next year" and has "big plans" for the looter shooter's future. Gearbox hasn't detailed what that content looks like yet.

The same message kicked off a charity push. The Hunt, a long-running community fundraiser, starts November 6th and supports St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Earlier this year, The Hunt raised a record $118,995.80 USD. This time, 2K Foundations and Gearbox will match every dollar donated up to that record amount, which could push the total past $230,000 for St. Jude.

What we don’t know yet

  • Gearbox hasn't said what Borderlands 4 content is planned for next year.
  • No release timing has been given for the next round of content.
  • Gearbox hasn't broken down how the 100 million sales split across individual games.
