The short version

  1. Control Resonant passed one million units sold three weeks after launch.
  2. Remedy's Q3 revenue rose 226% to €39.6m, with a small operating profit.
  3. Half of players were new to the franchise, and the game sits on 2.4 million wishlists.

Control Resonant is the fastest-selling game Remedy has ever made. The studio's latest financial report says the game passed one million units sold three weeks after launch.

It hit that mark on October 15, the same day the physical version arrived on Xbox and PlayStation. The game first launched digital-only on September 24.

CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon called the result "a defining milestone for the company."

The money side looks just as good. Remedy's third-quarter revenue surged 226% to €39.6 million. Operating profit came in at €0.6 million, which is small, but it beats the €16.4 million loss Remedy posted in the same quarter last year.

The bigger story for the series might be who's playing. Remedy says half of Control Resonant's players were new to the franchise.

"Reaching new players was a key goal for this game, and these early results indicate a growing audience for the franchise and for Remedy," Gaudechon said.

According to GameSpot, most sales came from the US. The original Control also saw a sales bump off the back of the launch.

Gaudechon also pointed to 2.4 million wishlists for Control Resonant, which he framed as a "substantial potential audience" down the line. That runway should help as Remedy keeps working on other projects, including its Max Payne 1 & 2 remake.

What we don’t know yet

  • Remedy hasn't given a sales figure beyond the one million milestone reached on October 15.
  • Remedy hasn't broken down sales by platform.
