The short version

  1. Preloading for GTA 6 opens November 10 on PS5 and Xbox.
  2. The game launches November 19.
  3. Siliconera reports it's an over 200GB download at launch.

Grand Theft Auto VI pre-downloads open November 10, giving you nine days to get the game onto your console before it launches November 19.

Sony confirmed the PS5 timing on the PlayStation Blog, and Microsoft's Xbox Wire says pre-install on Xbox also begins November 10. Rockstar Games has also confirmed preload times, global release times and the game's install size.

Start clearing space now. Siliconera reports GTA VI is an over 200GB download at launch, which is a big chunk of a console drive. Eurogamer put it plainly: "You better be prepared to clear out some storage space, and burn the midnight oil."

That midnight oil line points to the regional unlock timings Rockstar has shared, so depending on where you live, launch could land late at night.

Sony's post also walks PS5 players through a few prep steps for launch day, starting with making sure your PlayStation account is set up.

Rockstar had more than dates to share. According to IGN, the studio also announced a physical cover art poster and a map of Leonida, the game's setting.

What we don’t know yet

  • The exact install size for each platform hasn't been broken down here beyond being over 200GB.
  • How the poster and Leonida map will be distributed hasn't been detailed.
