FromSoftware takes Dark Souls 2 and 3 online servers offline
Both games still work, but the online features that make Drangleic and Lothric feel crowded are gone for now, and there's no word on when they'll be back.

The short version
- Dark Souls 2 and 3 servers are down on all platforms.
- You can still play both games, just without their online features.
- FromSoftware hasn't shared a reason in detail or a timeline for restoration.
FromSoftware has pulled the online servers for Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3, and the shutdown covers every platform the games are on.
Both games are still playable. What's missing is the online layer, the multiplayer interactions that a lot of players think of as core to how these games work.
So if you were planning a return trip to Drangleic or Lothric, you'll be doing it without the series' most recognizable online features for now.
PC Gamer reported that the multiplayer shutdown is temporary and tied to a 'server issue'. Beyond that, FromSoftware hasn't explained what went wrong.
There's also no timeline. PC Gamer noted that neither the reason nor a date for bringing the servers back has been disclosed.
Dark Souls 2 and 3 have always leaned on that shared online space, so losing it changes the experience a lot, even with the single-player campaigns untouched. The good news is that the shutdown has been described as temporary rather than permanent.
FromSoftware hasn't said when the servers will return.
What we don’t know yet
- What specific server issue caused the shutdown.
- When online features will be restored.
- Whether any other FromSoftware games are affected.
