The short version
- Avalon Hill's HeroQuest rerelease is coming to Steam as a digital edition.
- Nomad Games is handling it, with a quest editor and multiplayer.
- No release date or price has been shared yet.
HeroQuest, the classic dungeon crawl board game, is coming to Steam. The digital edition is based on Avalon Hill's deluxe rerelease of the game, and it's being made by Nomad Games.
Two features stand out: a quest editor and multiplayer. A quest editor is a big deal for a game like this, since building your own dungeons is a natural fit for a board game about kicking down doors and seeing what's behind them.
Nomad Games knows its way around this kind of project. The studio has previously adapted board games including Talisman, Love Letter and Fury of Dracula.
As for what you'll actually be doing, PC Gamer sums it up as goblin-bashing, trap-disarming, treasure-hunting and spell-casting. That's the HeroQuest formula, and it sounds like the digital version is sticking to it.
Nomad Games hasn't shared a release date, price or a detailed breakdown of how multiplayer works, and the Steam version is the only platform mentioned so far.
What we don’t know yet
- No release date has been announced.
- Pricing hasn't been shared.
- It's unclear whether multiplayer is online, local or both.
- No platforms beyond Steam have been mentioned.
