HoYoverse's cozy life sim Petit Planet is coming to Switch 2 in 2027

Petit Planet is heading to Switch 2. HoYoverse, the studio behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, says its free-to-play intergalactic life sim will arrive on Nintendo's console in 2027.

The news came at the end of the game's latest "pre-launch special program" broadcast. If you're not waiting for Switch 2, you won't have to wait long: the game launches on PC, iOS, and Android on December 4, 2026.

According to Polygon, Switch 2 is the first console Petit Planet will be ported to. HoYoverse hasn't given the Switch 2 version a more specific date than 2027.

The broadcast also dug into the game itself, covering some of the neighbors you'll meet, home decor features, and mini-games. You start out looking after your own little planet, then branch out to the small islands floating in the skies around Starsea or visit the Galactic Bazaar, a hub with in-game auctions and community features.

The Animal Crossing comparisons have been there since the start. Petit Planet was announced in September 2025, and IGN's writer, after about five hours with a closed beta preview, called it a charming, "The Little Prince"-themed take on Animal Crossing: New Horizons with an emphasis on clear progression and multiplayer, while flagging "potential caveats."

Landing on Switch 2 puts it right in Animal Crossing's home turf, which feels like a natural fit for a cozy sim chasing that audience.

PlayStation owners are left out for now. Push Square points out that HoYoverse has brought practically all of its releases to Sony's system since Genshin Impact, which makes the Switch 2-first console plan stand out. No PS5 or Xbox version has been announced.
