The short version
- Season 1 starts November 6 with three maps, and three more arrive later in the season.
- Shoot House returns, reworked for the game's Korean setting but with its familiar layout.
- DMZ gets X01, an enclosed facility that opens up a new part of the map.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 goes live on November 6, and Activision has confirmed six new multiplayer maps, new weapons, modes, events and a fresh chunk of DMZ to explore.
Three of those maps land on day one. The rest roll out over the course of the season.
The big one for longtime players is Shoot House. It's been reimagined to fit Modern Warfare 4's Korean setting, but the layout you remember is intact. It first showed up in Modern Warfare (2019) and has stuck around as a favorite thanks to its tight design and strong sightlines.
The other launch maps go for very different weather. Backstab is set in a snowy village, while Canyon drops you in a hot desert. Both follow Shipment, which was added this week.
On the weapons side, you're getting a tomahawk, plus guns that look a lot like the FMG9 and AA-12 from older Modern Warfare games. Steam News also points to the Cronen Osprey, which it says appears to take inspiration from the CX9 from Modern Warfare (2019) or the Scorpion Evo from Black Ops 2.
New attachments and apex attachments are coming too. The standout is a burst attachment for the M4 that transforms it into an M16, which is a fun way to bring an old favorite back.
DMZ players get X01, a whole new part of the map built around an eerie enclosed facility. Destructoid describes it as a new endgame DMZ zone.
Season 1 also brings new Operator Skins, Weapon Blueprints, DMZ Survival Kits and other rewards, along with Warzone integration.
What we don’t know yet
- The names and release timing of the three maps arriving later in Season 1 haven't been shared.
- Activision hasn't detailed the new modes and events coming with the season.
- Specifics of how Warzone integration will work haven't been explained.
