The short version

  1. Petal Runner arrives March 8, 2027.
  2. It's coming to Switch 2 as well as PC.
  3. A free Switch 2 demo is out now.

Petal Runner has a release date: March 8, 2027. It's launching on Switch 2 and PC.

The Switch 2 version is new. Gematsu reported it as an added platform alongside the date announcement.

If you want a taste before spring, you don't have to wait. A free Switch 2 demo launched alongside the news.

Petal Runner is a slice-of-life RPG about virtual life, done up in a Game Boy Color style. That's a pretty charming combo, and a handheld-friendly console feels like a natural home for that look.

The announcement didn't come with much else. There's no word yet on price, and the developer hasn't said how much of the game the demo covers or whether progress carries over to the full release.

For now, the date is set and the demo is the easiest way to see whether this one's for you.

What we don’t know yet

  • Petal Runner's price hasn't been announced.
  • It hasn't been said how much of the game the demo covers.
  • It's unclear whether demo progress carries over to the full game.
