The short version

  1. Stellar Blade skins are coming to the shop, including Widowmaker as EVE and an Ultra D.Va as Lily.
  2. Roadhog finally gets a Mythic skin: Necrotic Knight.
  3. Junker Queen and Illari get buffs, while Jetpack Cat and Doctrine get nerfs.

Overwatch's season 5 midseason patch is out, and it's a big one. It brings a Stellar Blade collaboration, Roadhog's first Mythic skin, a round of hero balance changes and a handful of events.

The Stellar Blade crossover puts several heroes in costumes from the Korean-made action game. Widowmaker becomes EVE, Freja becomes Raven, Vendetta becomes Tachy and Soldier: 76 becomes Adam.

D.Va's Lily skin is the showpiece. It's an Ultra skin, and her mech is based on Stellar Blade's final boss, Providence, with custom kill effects, reactivity and a unique "Hello" emote. The skins are headed to the in-game shop.

Roadhog players have waited a long time for this. His Mythic skin is called Necrotic Knight, and like other Mythics it levels up as you spend Mythic Prisms on it.

Buffs, nerfs and events

On the balance side, Junker Queen and Illari are getting buffs, while Jetpack Cat and Doctrine are taking nerfs. Blizzard's full notes have the specific numbers.

The patch also lines up three events: Taking Reign, Excavation Initiative and Junkrat's Loot Hunt. Polygon reports that one event locks its rewards behind a paid pass.

There's a gameplay update for Sabotage Detection and a Black Friday Vault Sale, too.

Story-wise, Doomfist has returned to defeat Vendetta in the Reign of Talon storyline. One more season drop is due in 2026 before a new narrative kicks off in February.

What we don’t know yet

  • The exact values of the hero buffs and nerfs aren't detailed here.
  • Pricing for the Stellar Blade skins and the paid event pass hasn't been shared.
  • It's unclear exactly when the Stellar Blade skins will appear in the shop.
