The short version

  1. Pocketpair's CEO says he'd "love to have those conversations" about Palworld on Switch 2.
  2. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company's patent lawsuit against Pocketpair is still ongoing.
  3. Nothing is announced: this is interest, not a port.

Pocketpair still wants Palworld on Switch 2, lawsuit or no lawsuit. CEO Takuro Mizobe told VGC that the idea is still on the table, answering "of course" when asked about it.

"First of all, I should say that we think the Switch 2 is a really amazing platform, not just for games globally, but especially here in Japan and for the Japanese games industry," Mizobe told VGC.

He followed that with the line that matters: "If there's ever a future where we have the opportunity to discuss or consider bringing Palworld to the Switch platform in some way, then we'd love to have those conversations."

That's a big "if." Nintendo and The Pokémon Company filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Pocketpair in September 2024, and the case is still going in Japan. The complaint was modified in November 2025 after Palworld updates changed some of the game's features.

IGN points out that the legal dispute would have to play out before any of those conversations could happen. It also reports that IP experts have suggested Nintendo may only receive a $30,000 payout if it wins.

The interest isn't new. Before Switch 2 launched, Pocketpair communications lead John "Bucky" Buckley said a port was "100% worth considering" as long as the console was "beefy enough" to handle it.

Pocketpair also hasn't been avoiding Nintendo hardware entirely. Its roguelike tower defense card game Overdungeon came to Switch at the start of last year.

For now, there's no Switch 2 version in development that anyone has announced, and Mizobe framed it purely as something he'd like to discuss someday.

What we don’t know yet

  • Whether Pocketpair has had any talks with Nintendo about a Switch 2 release.
  • When or how the patent lawsuit will be resolved.
  • Whether a Switch 2 port of Palworld is in any form of development.
